Job Title : Clinical Specialist, Cardiothoracic Surgery & Advanced

Wound Management (AWM)

Department : Cardiothoracic Surgery & AWM

Location : Durban Kwazulu-Natal

Reporting Line : Sales & Product Manager (Cardiothoracic Surgery)

Sales Manager Advanced Wound Management

Number of Direct Reports : Nil

Purpose the Job Exists:


To promote and sell medical device products and services to existing and developing markets.


Job Functions:

  • Responsible for the building and maintenance of effective and positive relationships with all stakeholders
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales against budget set out by Management
  • Monitor & Track sales on a daily basis
  • Update and submit monthly account plans
  • Submit weekly planner and sales report
  • Submit Highs and Lows on a monthly basis
  • Submit monthly expense reports
  • Implement promotional campaigns as set out by the Product Manager
  • Manage own budget expenses as set out by Management
  • Provide input/market feedback to Sales Manager/Product Manager in developing strategies per market segment e.g. Hospital groups, Public Sector, Tenders etc.
  • Responsible for implementing launch plan at customer level
  • Ensure effective stock management at hospitals, including movement and setting of stock levels.
  • Ensure minimum expiries of stock by effective management of same
  • Comply with all Legal requirements including but not limited to Section 21
  • Conduct formal consignment stock review on a quarterly basis in conjunction with Product Manager
  • Recommendation of new products to HOD
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Ensure that all fridge line products within your portfolio are managed within the required temperature ranges


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes Required:


  • Relevant Medical qualification, degree or diploma
  • Minimum 5-8 yearsexperience in Medical Device Sales
  • Theatre/Cathlab Experience
  • Very strong communication skills
  • Must be able to travel
  • Must be able to work flexible hours due to customer requirements
  • Proven track record in selling Medical Devices
  • Strong customer care service
  • Team player
  • Strong work ethic
  • Passionate
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Time management abilities


Relationships and Purpose:

Cardio Thoracic Surgeons, General Surgeons, Plastic Surgeons, Vascular Surgeons and Orthopaedic Surgeons, Allied Professionals, Infection Control Sisters, Clients, Service Providers and Staff members in order to have and maintain work ethics and performance, the Incumbent needs to build and strengthen these.
